Does your place of work or interest have a policy on First Aid, Do you have a First Aider on staff? Do you know who they are? If in doubt ask the manager. Remember If you feel someone needs medical attention call an ambulance immediately the operator on the other end can help you make the decision if an Ambulance is required or not.

Call for immediate medical assistance. If possible to identify what drugs the individual has taken inform the operator of the type of drug and dosage involved.

Is someone conscious but unable to stand?

Do not attempt to get them to stand and or try to “walk it off” falling in such a condition can cause serious injury, Clear a space around them and if possible place them in the recovery position (see below) never force someone into this position, Find someone to stay with the individual while you call an ambulance (Try to make sure the person with the individual is trained in first aid) Always ensure the airway is clear and the casualty is breathing

  • Place the person affected in the Recovery Position. This is so they do not choke (See below).
  • Check their breathing. If they are not breathing and if you are able, be prepared to do mouth to mouth resuscitation. If not, find someone who is. Loosen clothing around the person's neck.
  • Keep them warm. However not too hot and if they have taken ecstasy make sure they have plenty of cool fresh air.
  • Stay with them. If you need to leave return A.S.A.P.
